Circulation pumps

Water in a natural pond must circulate. Always. This is a fundamental principle. For volumes in a domestic natural pond, it is usually adequate one circulation pump or at most two in parallel. Even here the choice is to opt for pumps with low energy consumption and durable quality.
The factors affecting the choice are:

  • Volume of water to be filtered
  • Number of needed cycles
  • Distance and height difference between position and pump water intake
  • Any pressure loss along the way (additional filters, route deviations, etc.)
  • The pump is an element that requires maintenance (at least one annual cleaning of the impeller)
  • The pump must be protected with a possible pre-filter in order to safeguard the impeller from dirt and objects.

VarioFlow INLINE-E pumps are the first bio-pond pumps built with inline logic. Very easy to install because they can be mounted along the pipe line.
They must be installed below the water level to ensure they function properly. The motor can also be installed vertically, as long as the pump has adequate water flow and air cannot accumulate in the motor.

AquaFlow-E DC pumps without electronic controller

AquaFlow-E are DC pumps equipped with the latest generation permanent magnet motors, which are more energy efficient and silent.
They are similar in technology to the VarioFlow-E pumps, although built without the electronics for flow regulation. There are situations where flow control is not required, but where the efficiency of the engine, of course, offers great benefits.
They are multifunctional pumps; they can be installed both underwater and dry (near water) and can be used for circulation systems, filtration systems, waterfalls and all other imaginable situations that require water transport.
Underwater, out of water - it makes no difference: all models are multifunctional, as long as there is sufficient water supply for the pump. The motors are watertight, enclosed in synthetic resin, safe and also ultra silent.

The P-Tec 18000 is fitted with a closed impeller for a high head pressure and is therefore ideal for bead and sand filter systems or fountains.

How UV-C works

UV-C is electromagnetic radiation, which penetrates the cell wall of a micro-organism and damages the nucleus.
This destroys its ability to multiply.
The organisms are finally destroyed and have to be filtered from the water.

UV-C radiation damages a micro-organism's DNA molecules so that it can no longer multiply.
 

 

 

Not all micro-organisms are eliminated

The UV-C radiation can only eliminate organisms that are transported through the UV-C lamp in the water flow.
Useful organisms, such as nitrifying bacteria, do not float in the water, but attach themselves to carriers, such as the lining, plants, and filter filling, etc.
String algae also attach themselves to carriers and do not end up in the device.
 

The relationship between the flow capacity and the strength of the radiation

Scientific research has shown which UV-C radiation level eliminates the different types of micro-organisms.
The faster the water flows through the device, the shorter the radiation time to which a micro-organism is subjected.
Suspended algae, which cause the water to turn green, are eradicated with a short burst of radiation.
In order to destroy more effective organisms, such as parasites that could cause disease among koi, the burst of radiation must be longer, in other words, the water must flow through the device more slowly.
For swimming pools, the disinfection of the water is established as a standard, which is also used for swimming ponds, here the water's flow capacity is even slower.
