Natural swimming ponds and pools
The natural pond is an ornamental and freshwater swimming basin, perfectly integrated with the surrounding ecosystem. The term natural pond refers to artificial water mirrors in which purification does not take place with artificial and traditional water treatment systems, but through the use of natural elements, mainly plants and substrates, capable of making bathing waters.
This type of purification, also called phytodepuration, avoids the use of chemical preparations such as chlorine and, consequently, avoids the spillage of these polluting substances in the sewage systems or in the surrounding lands and makes the natural pond suitable also for those with particular skin hypersensitivity to these chemicals.
Firestone geomembrane, thanks to its non-toxicity, is particularly suitable for waterproofing reservoirs intended for swimming.
The various dimensions of the liners, the possibility of joining them and their flexibility in the installation make it possible to build from small reservoirs in private homes to larger lakes, such as, for example, the public bio-swimming lake in Roana.
The difference between natural pond (or ecological pond) and natural swimming pool is only in appearance: while the former has an irregular shape and is built with more raw materials (to remember the mountain lakes), the latter has more design formal, like the traditional pool, and finishes more similar to the classic pool.
However, both are artificial basins with a completely natural purification system and without chemical additives.
