Rainwater collection reservoirs

The use of our materials in agriculture mainly concerns the construction of large water reservoirs.
The need to build water storage basins arises from the observation that, if the precipitations are not decreased in quantity, they are however concentrated in shorter and more intense periods of rainfall. The alternation of high rainfall periods and dry periods increases the need to accumulate water in appropriate basins to have a constant supply of water resource.
The use of EPDM geomembranes allows the restoration of waterproofing in basins with compromised seal or the creation of new basins. The basin can be built in the ground or with other materials. The extreme elasticity of the material allows a waterproofing adaptation also as a result of the inevitable movements of the ground settling. The large surface of each panel allows to waterproof large areas in a short time. The lesser number of joints between the panels also allows you to have more security in sealing with other materials.
The resistance of the EPDM geomembrane to UV rays, at high and low temperatures, allows long life even if it remains exposed to the sun, as it happens in reservoirs for irrigation where the water level is lowered during summer.
The tests of our technicians on basins installed more than 40 years ago in Southern Europe have shown that the EPDM geomembrane is still perfectly suitable and functional even after many years.

Aquaculture

Another area that uses the Firestone EPDM geomembrane is to aquaculture. The certification of the National Centre for Environmental Toxicology (NCET UK) ensures that the material is not in any way harmful to aquatic life.

Nursery

Many tanks for the cultivation of aquatic plants and marsh plants in garden centers are waterproofed with Firestone EPDM geomembrane.
The extreme durability of the material, the lack of release of substances into the environment, the possibility of recycling and the commitment of Firestone on reducing the environmental impact of all its systems, allow us to state that this is an environmentally friendly material.
